Enemies don't respawn when you go back as I understand it. Although keep in mind, when you return, you will return with however many health packs/ammo you had left when you save/quit'd as well as health, you may need to backtrack to a bench to restock, I had to do this in chapter 18 with the unitologist ambush from both sides of the railing, I was yellow bar and had no health packs, ended up going all the way back through the bench area and then restocking on health and coming back. The Item duplication glitch in chapter 8/9, and the save/quit option helped a lot in several areas, just as The S bot 9000 above said. The inclusion of these game modes should just about change your perception of Dead Space 3 as a casual action game.I decided to do it legit, and I ended up getting it on my first attempt thanks to God, (yes I'm thankful).

Pure Survival Mode contrasts from this, by removing all resources from the world so you'll only be able to get them from slain monsters and nowhere else. In addition to Classic, the New Game+ mode makes a return, allowing you to keep your equipment and upgrades while restarting the campaign on a harder difficulty setting. Additionally, it'll also remove the game's crafting system from use, so you'll have to construct every weapon you find by first acquiring a blueprint in the campaign, instead of having these guns available to you from the get-go. Of these modes, Classic appears to be the most interesting one, which uses Dead Space 1's 'classic aiming'-that is to say, you won't have auto-aiming to guide your fire so you'll have to be a little more dextrous with the controller.
